A friend of mine from college died a few months ago at age 45 due to ALS. About a month later, my husband turned 50. Really put things in perspective for us. This quote truly resonates with me.

On the same theme as Tom's comment, my dad always said getting older beat the alternative.
Getting older physically is one thing; acting "old" is another. I'm ok with the former, but I hope I can avoid the latter.
I just refuse to admit I am getting older and that removes the problem part.
