Congrats to all the folks who were selected for TeamTrakkers. I applied but unfortunately didn't make the cut. I've pinged them to hopefully find out what I can do to improve my chances next time. I have my suspicions but I'll share them if I get confirmation. I'm still most likely racing Rev3 Quassy but will be sporting the kit of either Team Runner's Edge or Long Island Tri Coach.

I did my first sort of bike power threshold test the other night. I say sort of because it was a variation on the standard 2x20 minute hard intervals. In addition to forgetting how to actually ride "hard" (I went out too hard and died), the power meter showed that hard for me now was no where near where I expected/hoped it to be. At least a baseline was set, the testing will redone and there is plenty of opportunity for improvement. There, I'm sure, will be a swim test in the near future too. I don't know if I should look forward to it or fear it.

Most of my recent running has been on the treadmill. It is dark and cold outside before I go to work and it is cold and dark outside when I get home after work. My wife still isn't comfortable with me exercising alone outside since my accident and I need to balance her concerns with my dislike of the 'mill. I am supposed to run on Sunday outside while my daughter has indoor soccer practice (something is wrong with that statement) but the forecast calls for rain and cold. Might be back on the mill again since I need to get my work in. It could be worse with snow and cold but I still need to do the work.
You get what you need.

Dealing is hard. but an important part of the journey.

c.) I haven't been in the pool since forever and I will most certainly not be timing my efforts for awhile when I get back - blech!
I am sorry to hear you sound bummed.
I feel you on the treadmill running. I figure I must really hate it if I am willing to get up at 4:45 am to avoid running on one.
For me, a person who grew up in the soccer crazy part of the world, indoor soccer is NOT soccer. There!
Hope you can make friends with a dreadmill or find a way to run outside.
I think training in winter is hard. Seems we were programmed to hibernate and not exert.
Sorry to hear about not getting chosen to be part of team trakkers. Honestly though, I think you will do just as well with or without a team. You are your own best team. So being part of a team or not, shouldn't affect the end result and that is making it to IMFL healthy and finishing strong. Wish I could send some of our cold weather your way (ha-ha!)...60 degrees right now but not for long. We'll be in the high 20's, mid 30's come Monday morning, but no snow of course. Have a good run this weekend and one day at a time. You are getting stronger each day.
I despise treadmill running, but you have some good reasons for doing it.

Trainer power trainer numbers are never as good as you think they should be - however, those trainer sessions will pay big dividends come spring.

I am sorry about you not making the Team Trakkers....you will get it next time:) Life is full of disappointments but they make us stronger and give us character! Is NY in for some future snow?
I am trying to learn to like the treadmill. I seem to do much better when I have a workout to do on it that is broken up vs just running (my running is the speed of some peoples slow jog).
