"Nothing could be finer than...

to be in Carolina in the Maaaaaawwwwwwwnnnnnmnnn-in" Guess where I was this week?

Business had me flying into Charleston for a one day meeting. I had a run on the schedule so I decided to pack my running stuff to enjoy the tropical weather there. I decided to not pack tights, just shorts and flew in the night before (I did squeeze in my bike ride on the trainer before I headed to the airport).

I woke up early and saw the temperature was a balmy 35 degrees. Put on the shorts, kicks, a long sleeve shirt and ventured out. Of course this was when the issue of where to run was raised as the hotel was on a highway but I figured that out by running around some condo developments with "No Trespassing" signs. Every South Carolina rental cop looked at me like I was a friendly type of insane person since I was wearing shorts. They waved to me and I waved back. It was a short 40 minute run but it made the trip memorable.

That night when I landed in NY it was 14 degrees. Oh well, warm weather celebration over.

PS: Jamoosh would be proud since I sampled a Chick-Fil-A spicy chicken biscuit for breakfast. It was a good thing that will be added to the menu for future trips to the Confederacy. Jessica Alba wasn't working the counter though.

I love Charleston! We took a trip there a few yrs ago with thoughts of relocating, but obviously we're still on LI :) Definitely want to revisit though.

Got my bike on Sunday and met Mike, everything went great :D

Those little gated or nearly-gated communities are great to run in because all of the streets pretty much dead-end and there's very little traffic.

Of course, they all claim to be "Private Property", but if I spot a sewer - and they all have 'em - I figure my tax dollars contributed to them so they have no right to keep me out. Of course, in Carolina, the penalty for trespassing is the same as the penalty for everything else - which is: Being Sodomized By Cletus. (And down there? They're all Cletus ... not just Cletus

Forget the period and closing parenthesis above.

Chik Fil A just isn't the same without Jessica.

Damn that Jessica. Does she realize how many times I have held up her poster with one hand?

It's 41 here today and feels like a heat wave. Amazing how a cold winter changes your perspective.

Jessica should really get her schedule straight.

Isn't perspective a funny thing. 40 is the lower limit of capris pants, long sleeve shirt, gloves.

I am sure you could rock capris pants!!

I'm so glad you got to experience some warm running weather finally. Too bad you weren't in a better area with some safer space to run but hey, you got something in and that counts just as well. Keep up the good training!

So what would you be wearing on a balmy run in say, CA (65F today) :-)

The "you must be crazy" looks are something I've really experienced as well.

A shirtless white dude running in short-shorts through Antigua... well, lets just say I stand out.

Stay warm!

Thanks for stopping by my Blog. I think I will like this one. 35 balmy? It's gonna be 75 in So Cal today. Was that mean?

No, Alba? No Chik-Fil-A! That's my policy and I'm sticking to it.

Ha! This reminds me of the time I went to North Carolina (Boone) to do a lecture in March and I brought all my warm weather running gear thinking I was going to have weather in the 60's. Yeah, not a chance. I only brought a pair of dress shoes, but I needed arctic grade boots. It was freezing and snowing the whole time I was there.

Awesome job keeping up the workouts while traveling. That is so hard sometimes. If it were 35 degrees here I would have been in tights and long sleeves! Glad you got to enjoy some "nice" weather :)

Glad you had fun down in Charleston! I'm headed that way april 30th for a half ironman from www.setupevents.com, and I have a brother that lives there. It's a fantastic town if you're going to be taking more trips down there.

And don't worry about what Glaven says. We don't sodomize every tresspasser. If they get close enough to our moonshine stills we shoot them instead! Hahahahahah!

I didn't like the CFA spicy chicken. Wendy's is better, although they don't have it for bfast on a biscuit.

Good job in that balmy weather!
